What An Opportunity

Welcome to Gentlemen of Sport. This site is the brainchild of 20-somethings Akanimo Akpan, Andrew Moser, and Aaron Mansfield. The three became close friends in 2005 when they surprised their competition and made their high school’s varsity basketball team; Akpan and Moser were sophomores and Mansfield was a freshman.

The trio survived that hellish season – finishing with a 2-17 record, running countless suicides, and teetering on the brink of tears every day – to thrive in two much more successful seasons together. Their bond and love for sports continue to this day, a bond forged during endless repetitions of Gold Digger during wall jumps.

Today they are college students – each owning a radically different point of view – with a whole lot on their minds. This website is where pen meets paper, and the gentlemen share their thoughts on sports, popular culture, women, and life. Dialogue is greatly encouraged.

Buckle up.

  1. Hello, gentlemen. Been scrolling around and had fun here. You guys are so adorable, smart, witty, a little bit Plato and Tolstoy, please keep up the good work. Regards from me in the messy country, Indonesia! ^_^

  2. What a great blog, gentlemen!

  3. Gentlemen: Enjoyed reading your blog and will continue to do. Best to all. Life’s journey will be that much easier with good friends. Looks as though you have that covered. Oh, and besides my wife, put me down as a fan of Diane Lane. Enjoy your lives and thanks for reading my blog.

  4. Hi, gentlemen. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I remember what it was like wondering what I would do with my life at your age. I’ve made plenty of mistakes, learned plenty and unlearned a lot more since then. I wish you gentlemen all the best wherever your choices lead you and look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on this blog (you’ve got a great blog, by the way).

    Best regards,

  5. Thank you, guys, for following me. You have a great blog. I’m looking forward to reading more.

I’d be very happy to write a (free) guest post sometime for your blog if you would like me to….. An opinion or review piece, poem, piece of prose, whatever.

I have another blog, with some poems of short pieces of prose on it, It’s here: http://vickynewham.wordpress.com/

Good luck with all your stuff

  12. Hello Gentlemen of Sport!

I am not much of a sportswoman but I am a good sport. I see you are following my blog so I wanted to see who you were.

What a great friendship you all have formed. There is something special going on when you can share a blog with two others

I think so many of us think of sports being only about the main players. But from your career ambitions I can now comprehend there is so much more to the game and so many different opportunities. Good luck to all of you.

I think we can learn something by following blogs of all different kinds of people. (even little old ladies can be interesting :0 )

    Thank you for following mine.

  13. I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?

  14. What a unique way to go. Three minds together sharing thoughts and feelings. How many men do that? Not many, I’m led to believe. Look forward to getting to know you better.:)x

  15. Great Blog.
Thank you for following… I should say thank you for your gift of presence on my blog. 🙂

  16. All the best to the 3 of you. Thanks so much for following my blog. 🙂

  17. Thank you so much for stopping by and following my blog. It really means a lot. 🙂 More power to you – Gentlemen of Sport.

  18. This is a long overdue thank you for the follow on Heart’s Table. You guys have an interesting blog! I especially like the Women section haha! I’ll be sure to stop by again and read some more. God bless! 😀
